Morning Glory Yoga Studios is excited to incorporate, for the first time ever, Balanced Body Pilates into our regular class schedule beginning in September!
Although we will have “Drop In” Pilates classes throughout the week, we have discovered one of the best ways to inform students of new practices, foster discipline, and improve motivation is through in-depth, specialized courses. Pilates, with it’s unique approach to fitness, is no exception. Morning Glory Yoga will offer a 4 Week Pilates Foundation Course beginning September 06, 2016 taught by our newest teacher, Sarah Sanchez.

If you’ve ever been curious about Pilates, begin this new path in your physical fitness journey at Morning Glory Yoga Studios by coming to our 4 Week Pilates Foundation Course. This class is designed for those who are new to Pilates and/or students who want to deepen their understanding of Pilates. Students will be given a breakdown of basic Mat exercises, Pilates Fundamentals, as well as some Intermediate Mat exercises. Through each exercise, students will learn what modifications or props to use to assist in performing an action correctly and safely. After completing this course, students will be equipped to take a beginner’s class with confidence and ease. Additionally, students will establish a proper foundation to continue on with intermediate classes.
Please bring a folder for handouts,a writing utensil, and water bottle. Wear comfortable exercise attire.
Joseph Pilates said it best, “Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”
Balanced Body Pilates is a mind body focused exercise regimen. Pilates challenges the mind to control mobile, flexible limbs while sustaining a strong, stable core. Pilates consists of low-impact floor exercises which take the stress off of the body’s joints. You can expect to move in positions such as; plank, ab curl, neutral spine, and inverting on a curved spine. There are modifications for every exercise providing all students with options.

Yoga Nidra: The Yoga of Rejuvenation
Yoga Nida, sometimes called ‘yogic sleep’, is an ancient practice that was introduced to the West by teachers like Satyananda Saraswati and Swami Rama in the 1960’s. It is said that one hour of Yoga Nidra can replace 4 hours of regular sleep. Yoga Nidra is typically practiced in 8 stages. After a gentle asana practice, we begin in Shavasana with a guided relaxation. Next we repeat pre-determined affirmation called a Sankalpa. The third step is called the rotation of consciousness which is followed by breath awareness. The fifth step is called the manifestation of opposites. Then we enter into creative visualization. To close, the sankalpa is repeated, before starting a very gradual return to normal consciousness.
