In my twenties I had a routine yoga practice. When my two daughters were preschool, we did kids yoga. (I still have the book we used 33 years ago)
Then my nursing career came to the forefront of my focus.
Always wanting to share knowledge, I taught many different classes, birthing, sibling, CPR, newborn, pediatric and adult resuscitation.
Knowing the importance of relaxation,<
Around two decades ago I took a 600 hour massage therapist course.
As retirement from nursing approached, I decided to reignite my passion for yoga.
Honoring my nature to teach, I took a 200 hour yoga immersion teacher training at the Yoga Center in Asheville, North Carolina. During the immersion, restorative yoga and kids yoga resonated the most with me.
My background in medicine & massage helps with my ultimate goal, to empower people to relieve stress and restore a sense of calmness in their life.
I am a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and the Yoga Alliance.
There is still space so register online to reserve yours!
Free Friday is canceled today, 06.30, so to facilitate this event.
Melissa Smith is graciously detouring off the beaten path to visit Morning Glory Yoga Studios, once again, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Don’t miss out on this special treat from an amazing teacher traveling to Nacogdoches all the way from Canada.
Restorative Yoga Session and Special Music…
Experience postures that promote deep relaxation and recuperation. The long held poses will support a strong body, mind and spirit connection with the strategic placement of Yoga props which will encourage the body to release. Props will help facilitate a soma or “living aware” experience by awakening awareness of the body within or silence those overworked areas. We will flow with a gentle movement warm up, subtle body breath work, a unique restorative sequence and finish with a deliciously long Yoga Nidra meditation. You will leave refreshed and renewed.

Please join us in our newly renovated studio, MGY2, this Sunday, September 11th at 2pm!
Come and meet our newest teacher, Glenda Webb, and enjoy an introduction to Restorative Yoga, a style of yoga new to our regular class schedule!
Restorative Yoga is appropriately named as it restores, relaxes and renews the body and mind to a calm and deeply relaxed state. Yoga poses are supported with blankets, blocks, and bolsters as breathing techniques are coordinated. The body is supported in the asana for up to ten minutes which allows the body to progressively relax, reducing stress and anxiety. This benefits overall health, reduces the effects of stress related diseases, promoting balance in a culture that prides itself in multitasking.
As you know, this Sunday is 9/11. We chose to introduce this class on this day intentionally to hold a safe and comfortable space for all to practice stillness, reflection, and unity. We hope you’ll join us.
